Left Alive Is A Fascinating Concept, But A Crappy Game - Kotaku

It mixes intense sneaking and massive robot battles, and if that doesn’t sound familiar enough, it even has art from Metal Gear’s Yoji Shinkawa to drive the point home. But the reality is less impressive than the concept.Kick Streamer Known For Controversial ‘Humiliation’ Content Reportedly Dies During Live BroadcastIt’s hard to know where to even begin talking about Left Alive, which is out now for PC and Playstation 4. Conceptually, it’s exactly the sort of game I’d want to play. Set in the universe of Square Enix’s mecha strategy series Front Mission, and directed by Armored Core veteran Toshifumi Nabeshima, it focuses on a war between two fictional European nations. The promise of this concept falls apart when you actually play Left Alive. There are cool ideas here: scrounging items to craft makeshift weapons, guiding survivors to safe houses, and figuring out the best way to take down enemy mechs when the time comes. But playing Left Alive feels like traveling back in time by about a decade.

The Left 4 Dead franchise has garnered significant success over the years, and Mike Booth is one of the reasons why. As the original project lead for the game, he has officially confirmed the development of a new game. The gaming community, particularly among fans of his previous work, has expressed excitement for this announcement. This new project aims to build directly upon the core foundations that made Left 4 Dead a landmark title. According to Booth, the game will focus on all central pillars of the beloved zombie shooter, namely teamwork, tension, and high replayability. The authenticity of his post was verified by a moderator on the Left 4 Dead subreddit, who confirmed the news came directly from Booth himself. This development inevitably draws comparisons to Back 4 Blood, a spiritual successor made by Turtle Rock without Booth’s involvement. As of now, Booth serves as chief creative officer at Bad Robot Games, with this project representing a significant step for the JJ Abrams-led production company’s gaming division. Not only that, but it’s also a big test for Booth following his role in Left 4 Dead‘s success.

Left Alive story trailer sets up a tale of warfare in the 22nd century | PC Gamer

The survival action shooter Left Alive is set to come out in March. Square Enix's action survival shooter left Left Alive, a return to the world of Front Mission being developed by "an all-star team of Armored Core and Metal Gear veterans," didn't leave much of a positive impression when we took a look at it in September. It was still fairly early along in the development process at the time, to be fair, although "it doesn’t just look unfinished, it looks uninspired," we wrote.Left Alive's story, laid out in that new trailer up above, seems to substantiate that "uninspired" assessment: Political power shifts from nation states to economic blocs, technology evolves but humanity's ability to use it responsibly does not, there's a fight, and now a brave cadre of defenders must hold out against an overwhelmingly superior force.March is still five months away, and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if we see a delay between now and then—not that I have any real reason to expect one, it's just how things are these days. Either way, you can find out more about what Left Alive has in store at left-alive.com.Left Alive is set for release in March 2019.

Emissions rules to claim Audi's hottest hatch sooner than hoped | Drive

One of Audi's most unique models – the five-cylinder RS3 performance car – has had time called on it as new emissions rules close in. With Euro 7 in force for newly-introduced vehicles from November 2026, and all new cars on sale in Europe in November 2027, it hands the five-cylinder engine about two years left in dealers.

Left Alive Review - IGN

Left Alive tries to be so, so many things: a stealth game, a military… Left Alive tries to be so, so many things: a stealth game, a military thriller, a third-person shooter, and an urban survival adventure. And yet it fails on every level, including at performing acceptably on a PC above the recommended specs. When the Metal Gear pastiche falls apart, what’s left is technical shortcomings, wonky controls, poor balance, and so much frustration it wasn’t worth suffering all the way to the end after I’d already wasted dozens of hours on it.The military story is the only part of Left Alive I found remotely decent, thanks to a couple of surprising techno-thriller twists, but even that is mediocre when compared to Metal Gear Solid or prior games in the Front Mission world. There are dimensions to the levels that allow you to move around, take up new positions, and approach a scenario from different angles. There's a tremendous variety of ways to camouflage yourself and to distract the bad guys. By stark contrast, in Left Alive I felt like prey.As for our heroes, they often miss wildly for no discernible reason but the recoil on weapons being laughably strong, or if a strange lag felt like kicking in and failing to trigger a shot I’d fired before the bad guy moved, or, in a few occasions, if Left Alive just decided I should miss shots that appeared perfectly lined up.

Left Alive Review - No Will To Survive - GameSpot

This third-person stealth action game is better left alone. You’re separated from your squad, your Wanzer mech heavily damaged and unable to operate, with nothing but the local army’s omnipotent AI, Koshka, to help guide you to safety. Left Alive’s opening salvo shows its certain potential, but while the premise pulls you in, the take away once it’s all over is one of resounding disappointment.Surviving the numerous open-world sections of the city is the main point of Left Alive, avoiding combat where possible and traversing slowly and silently through the torn up streets littered with abandoned cars and flaming piles of rubbish. As you move from point to point, you’ll scavenge items and components--from empty cans and bottles to stripping parts from destroyed drones--in order to craft traps and projectiles.Wanzers are the only part of Left Alive that bucks its mediocrity. When moving through the city, these imposing behemoths will patrol along the wider open sections of the map, sweeping the area from on high. Most of the time they can be avoided by finding a clearer route, but sometimes you’ll need to get unnervingly close, creating a palpable sense of fear as you try to sneak by them undetected.Save for Wanzer-related activities, almost no part of Left Alive feels good to play; it’s painfully slow, inconsistent, and looks incredibly dated. Environment textures are muddied and lack detail, animations don’t blend together that well which gives everything a slightly jolting look.

We Finally Know What Left Alive Will Actually Be - Gamescom 2018 - IGN

The Front Mission spin-off just got a little less mysterious. We are shown one full mech section, in which the player's stolen an enemy wanzer and proceeds to blow seven shades out of an enemy mech squadron. Left Alive's walking tanks come with four customisable weapon slots (two smaller arm mounted weapons, and two heavier shoulder mounts), but melee seems to be an option, too, going by a thruster-driven charge attack shown off several times. It's ambitious and interesting but, right now, that seems to come at the expense of presentation -- which feels particularly egregious when Metal Gear concept artist Yoji Shinkawa is part of development. Yep, Left Alive feels like a PS2 game -- I just can't tell if that's going to be a wholly good thing right now. After seeing it for the first time, Left Alive already feels like some strange relic of the PS2 age, and I mean that both as a positive and a negative.

Left for Live - Wikipedia

Left for Live is a live album by John Entwistle, who was the bassist for The Who. In 1995, Entwistle put together a backing band with producer Steve Luongo that he christened as simply 'The John Entwistle Band'. The outfit also featured guitarist Godfrey Townsend and keyboardist Gordon Cotten ... It was said that Entwistle wanted to play this song instead of Won't Get Fooled Again at Live Aid with The Who but Pete Townshend disagreed so Entwistle wanted to record his own version instead as a tribute to Moon. When AllMusic rated the album they said, "John Entwistle may be the most esteemed bass guitarist in rock & roll – and he's a proven songwriter, too. But while Entwistle's thundering basslines and seminal synthesizer work helped make the Who the godfathers of arena rock, Left for Live is a sorry imitation.
